Happy April! We’re a little behind on this, but we wanted to share a fun tradition we maintain at Ed’s every year.

Every Easter at Ed’s we do a fun, little Easter egg hunt around the shop. Kelli, our marketing manager, hides eggs throughout the workspace and everyone stops working to hunt around for them. Sometimes the search gets a little intense as there are many places to hide things in the shop. The eggs are filled with cash prizes, including a $50 bill. This year, Shawn found the $50 – he seems to have a little luck working for him! Here are a few photos from the hunt!

Lifelong learning

At Ed’s, we believe in lifelong learning, both professionally and personally. In the spirit of learning and wanting to see continual growth in the industry, we offer continuing education classes each year to insurance agents in the Twin Cities area.

The classes cover a variety of topics, and up to 24 credits can be earned. A few of the top things we teach about include:

  • Air bag and restraint systems
  • Auto theft and insurance companies’ roles
  • The difference between VTEC and VAFC
  • Facts about the frame of a car
  • How to pre-inspect a vehicle and the benefits of doing so
  • Information on the repair process, including cost and timing
  • Areas on the vehicle that insurers should be sure to look at when inspecting and writing estimates
  • What VIN etching is
A few highlights from this year include:
  • Over 100 insurance agents were educated in the 2011 classes
  • The most popular course was “Ethics in Insurance – Sharpening Your Professional Judgement”
  • Shooting off air bags in the “Air Bag and Restraint Systems” class
  • Over $250 in raffle prize drawings throughout class periods
  • Several hands-on demonstrations.

Celebrating Rich!

Yesterday we took some time to celebrate one of our employees, Rich! September 6th marked 25 years of employment at Ed’s Collision for him, and we’re so glad he’s here!

Rich is an auto body technician out in the shop, who works diligently to get cars repaired well and in a timely manner. Outside of work, Rich loves to watch NASCAR. In fact, he even organizes the NASCAR draft that the guys in the shop participate in each year.

Rich will be honored for his 25 years at Ed’s again at this year’s Christmas party. Congrats, Rich!
